  Anthony C. (Tony) Bevec age 85 of Canonsburg passed away Saturday April 22, 2017 in McMurray Hills Manor following an extended illness. He was born May 8, 1931 in Strabane a son of the late Anthony F. and Mary Regrut Bevec. Mr. Bevec live in the Strabane and Canonsburg area his entire life and was a faithful member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Catholic Men’s Club, and served as an usher for forty years. He served with the United States Army with the rank of Sargent during the Korean War where he received the Korean Service Medal with two bronze service stars. He had been a Vice President of Operations with Lampl Inc. from 1958 to 1977 and a Supervising Project Director with the Dick Corporation until his retirement in 1997, when he became an asphalt consultant with A.G. Bevec, Inc. until 2016. Mr. Bevec was a member of the American Legion Post 253, the VFW Post 191 and the Sons of Italy in Canonsburg and the Italian American Heritage Association.

    On May 24, 1951, he married Betty Jane Marino who survives after 64 years of marriage. Also surviving are his son, Anthony G. (Carol) Bevec of Canonsburg, two granddaughters; Natalie and Nicollette Bevec, a brother Barry Bevec of Glendale Arizona, a sister Jane Novak of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents are his beloved daughter Nina Marie Bevec Bean, who passed away July 26, 2003, a sister Mary Toplisek and a brother Theodore Bevec.

    Friends will be received from 2-8pm Tuesday April 25, 2017 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at noon Wednesday April 26, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30pm in St Patrick Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg with reverend John J. Batykefer, pastor as celebrant. Interment with full military honors by the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard and the United States Army will take place at 2pm in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp.
