Christine Gurba Hayman, 65 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 15, 2017 in her home with her loving family by her side.

She was born on December 17, 1951 in Harrisburg to J. Paul Simpson and Elizabeth Laughner Simpson who preceded her in death. She grew up on the west shore of the Susquehanna River in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. Chrissy was the youngest of seven children, five boys and two girls.

She graduated from Trinity High School in Camp Hill and then went on to graduate as a registered nurse from Allegheny County Community College in Pittsburgh. She spent 25 years as a psychiatric nurse at Mayview State Hospital and retired as a supervisor.

It was at Mayview State Hospital that Chrissy met her beloved husband Wayne Hayman. On May 2, 1998 she married Wayne and they resided in Canonsburg.

Chrissy and Wayne loved to travel; their extended car trips took them from coast to coast and border to border. Many of their trips took them to concerts. If The Rolling Stones were performing in the United States, a car trip was in order. Wayne got Chrissy involved in playing golf and being an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In retirement, Chrissy was active in their social club and served as a club treasurer.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Karin L. Lang (Jim) of Asburn, Virginia and Rebecca L. Gurba (fiance’ Roy Cooper) of Herndon, Virginia a devoted sister Karen I. Stratton (Chris) of San Diego, California brothers Jim E. Simpson (Sarah) of Ickesburg, John W. Simpson of Canonsburg, W. Andrew Simpson (Sandy) of Pahrump, Nevada, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers Mike P. Simpson (Kathy) and George P. Simpson.

Friends are welcome from 2~4 and 6~8 pm. on Wednesday, April 19, 2107 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P.
