Thomas E. Jeffers

Thomas E. Jeffers of Peters Township died on May 20, 2016, surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 22, 1922 in Pittsburgh.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Predeceased by his wife, Alice, he is survived by four children, Susan (Tom) Edwards of LaCanada, CA, Jane (Steven Hager) of Haverhill, MA, Gary of McMurray, and Douglas of San Antonio, TX; three grandchildren, Julian Ramos, Keenan, and Jack; and many nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Carrick High School in 1941 and joined Miller Printing Machinery Company where, except for his service in the Navy, he worked for 48 years.  In the Navy he served in Hawaii as an Aviation Machinist Mate Third Class.  He was an avid Pirates, Steelers, and Pitt Panther fan, an enthusiastic gardener, and loved working around his house, playing cards with friends, reading, and in his earlier years, playing golf.

Friends are welcome from 11-12, with a memorial service beginning at 12, on Monday, June 13, 2016 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120.  Interment will follow at 1:00 PM in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp..

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to Peters Twp. Meals on Wheels, 245 E. McMurray Road, McMurray, PA 15317 or to the charity of your choice.
