     William H. “Hoppy” Hopson age 89 of Strabane passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday July 15, 2015 in St. Clair Memorial Hospital Mt. Lebanon. He was born September 7, 1925 at Moon Run a son of the late Maurice and Matilda Obenour Hopson. He lived his entire life in the Muse and Strabane areas and was a member of Chartiers Hill Presbyterian Church. Mr. Hopson proudly served with the United States Navy during World War II and prior to his retirement in 1986 he had been employed as a finisher at the former Cooper Industries in Canonsburg.

     He was a member of the Muse Independent Club, White Eagles Society, the American Legion Post 902, the USSW union retirees where he served as vice president and treasurer and had served as treasurer of local union 3968 for 26 years.

     On July 25, 1953 he married Tillie Waschuck who survives. Also surviving to cherish his memory are two daughters; Debra Lee (Daniel) Wilson of College Station Texas and Judi Ann O’Brien of Canonsburg, three grandchildren; Rachel (Roman) Delino, Adam (Charity) Wilson and Justin O’Brien, two great grandchildren; River Keith and Loretta Lee Delino and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hopson was the last of his immediate family. Preceding him in death are two brothers, Maurice Hopson and Dawson Hopson and two sisters; Elizabeth Smart and Wynette Tonti.

     Friends are welcome from 4-8pm Sunday July 19, 2015 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb funeral director 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120. Private family services with reverend Donald Austin officiating will be held Monday in the Funeral Home followed by interment in Chartiers Hill Cemetery, Canonsburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Canonsburg Houston Meals on Wheels.
