Ruth E. (Morgenstern) Kamp

November 10, 1923 — November 5, 2015

Ruth E. Kamp, 91, of Venetia passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2015 in Jefferson Hospital, Pittsburgh.

She was born on November 10, 1923 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Elmer H. and Esther M. Heck Morgenstern.

Ruth graduated from Carrick High School in February, 1941.  She worked at Peters Township School District and Equitable Life Assurance of America prior to retiring from The Advertiser/The Almanac.  She was a member of Peters Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards, dominoes, puzzles, and embroidery.  Ruth embroidered beautiful tablecloths for many family and friends.  She especially enjoyed collecting turtles and spending time with The Turtles.  Ruth had been a member of The Turtles for 65 years and looked forward to their annual luncheon.  She enjoyed life, having fun, and going places at a moment’s notice.

On August 21, 1950 she married Gilbert H. Kamp, who passed away on September 8, 2007.

Surviving are her two beloved daughters, Janet R. (Frank Super) Kamp of Venetia and Gail A. (Paul) Phillips of McMurray; a precious granddaughter, Ashley A. Phillips of Shadyside; and several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Deceased, in addition to her parents and husband, is a brother, Elmer H. Morgenstern, Jr., who passed away at 8 months old.

Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-9 PM on Monday, November 9, 2015 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb funeral director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 with Rev. Doug Brandt officiating.  Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven, McMurray.

The family suggests that memorial donations be made to Peters Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 184, Venetia, PA 15367 or to a charity of your choice.
