Barbara "Joan" (Douglas) Taper

Barbara “Joan” Taper, 86 of Canonsburg passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017 in Canonsburg Hospital.

She was born on November 30, 1930 in Dormont to Ray A. and Martha Calahan Douglas who preceded her in death.

On June 30, 1950 she married Edward A."Boots"  Taper who passed away on February 2, 1983

She was a faithful member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg.

She loved to crochet, cooking and eating and was famous for her cookies. She also loved gardening and loved the beauty of all flowers.

She and a group of friends from high school, including Babe Bevec, formed a card club and enjoyed every minute of being together playing cards.

She is survived by her children Timothy E. Taper (Annette) of Nashua, New Hampshire, Mary “Mitzie” Roe (Thomas) of Anapolis, Ohio and J. Scott Taper of Canonsburg, her sister Mary Sherwood of Plantation, Florida, five grandchildren Douglas, Elizabeth, Abagail and James Taper, Delli Dougherty and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother Thomas Douglas and a son Edward T. Taper.

Friends are welcome from 2~4 and 6~8 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, 724-745-8120 where a Blessing Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery Canonsburg.
