Frank A. Kern

Frank A. Kern age 90 of Pittsburgh passed away peacefully on Friday, January 11, 2019 with his loving family by his side. He was born December 26, 1928 in Strabane, a son of the late Joseph and Mary Pere Belle Kern Sr. Mr. Kern served with the United States Army during the Korean War and prior to his retirement he was a steel inspector with the Universal Cyclops Corporation. He was a member of St Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, the SNPJ Lodge 138 and St Jerome Lodge 153 KSKJ both of Strabane, and the United Steel Workers of America. Mr. Kern loved dancing and was very proud of his Slovenian Heritage, always looking forward to the annual Slovene Fest. He enjoyed time spent with his family and traveled with them throughout the United States for more than 30 years. On October 6, 1962 he married his devoted wife Helen R. Kane who survives after 56 years of marriage. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved children; his daughter, Marilyn (William Kirsch) of Robinson Twp. and two sons; Gary Kern of Las Vegas Nevada and Kevin Kern of Washington, and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents are five siblings; Joseph, Mary Simko, Richard, James and W. Jean Kern.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am in St. Patrick Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Interment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery Peters Twp. with full military rites by the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard and the United States Army.
