Olga Mikus

Olga Mikus age 94 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully November 11, 2023, in her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born December 15, 1928, in Jermyn, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Lopatra Danyo. She lived in Muse and Peters Twp., before moving to Canonsburg and was a graduate of Cecil High School. Prior to her retirement Olga had been an Executive Secretary to the Vice President of PPG Industries in Pittsburgh for over twenty-five years. Mrs. Mikus was devoted to her very traditional Orthodox faith and attended services at St. Mary’s Russian Orthodox Church, Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, and often attended and volunteered at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church.  Along with her husband, Joe, she received the Orthodox Church in America Saint Innocent Award, which is the highest laymen’s award in the Orthodox Church.  Olga enjoyed cooking, baking, bingo, shopping, going to the casino, hosting family dinners, and never missed an hour of news on MSNBC. On May 6, 1962, she married Joseph C. Mikus who passed away April 11, 2014, after fifty-two years of marriage. Left behind to cherish her memory is her sister Sophia “Bunny” (Carl) Stopperich of Houston, her brother Michael “Mickey” Oluich of Pompano Beach Fla. and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mikus’s family would like to thank her caregivers: niece Nika DeRosa and friends Rosemary Nikas, Karen Goode, and Dana Bachner.  Additional thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their kind and caring support over the past two years, all of those who aided in her care through the recent years. Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, is her stepfather Marko Oluich, her sister Dorothy LaBella, and her brothers William and Edward Danyo.

Family and friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8 pm November 16, 2023, in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 601 Boone Avenue, Canonsburg, where Parastas services will be held at 7 pm.  Funeral Services and interment will be private.
