Anna Marie “Mrs. Little Joe” Trovato age 83 of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Friday evening, June 16, 2023, in Canonsburg Hospital with her devoted sons by her side. She was born February 27, 1940, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Ann L. Casarcia Bazan Polochak and Kazimier Bazan. Anna Marie was raised in Muse and lived most of her life in Canonsburg. She was a graduate of St. Genevieve Church School and Immaculate Conception High School in Washington and was a faithful member of St. Oscar Romero Parish St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and Guild. Anna Marie started her business life at the Dairy Delight in Canonsburg, then in the dry-cleaning business with her aunt Rose Casarcia who introduced her to the love of her life Little Joe Trovato at his fruit market. She worked along with her husband running Little Joe’s Market on Jefferson Avenue for many years. She was a terrific cook specializing in Italian food, and with the help of her husband and mother and son’s ran Trovato’s Italiano Ristorante since 1984, for over 25 years. Many of her customers became good friends over the years and the Pittsburgh Post Gazette food critic Munch stated that” her sauce had both an amazing orange red hue and a soul honing tang”. Ann Marie was community minded and gave back generously to Canonsburg. She enjoyed being with her family and dogs Shadow and Bella, selling flowers and plants in the summer and visiting the Casino. Since her retirement she volunteered along with her son at various organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and Project Bundle Up. On June 1, 1963, she married Joseph “Little Joe” Trovato who passed away November 16, 2012, after 49 years of marriage. Left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved sons, Joseph J. Trovato Jr. with whom she made her home in McMurray and John A. Trovato of Canonsburg, a sister Cecelia a Patterson of Canonsburg and brothers Michael and Timothy Polochak both of Tucson Arizona, her sister in law Eileen Trovato of Houston, nieces, nephews and several godchildren. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents is her stepfather, John Polochak. Mrs. Trovato’s family would like to extend their most heartfelt thank you to the nurses, doctors and all other staff for giving excellent carer to their beloved mother.
