Barbara L. Solensky

Barbara L. Solensky age 93 of Brick, New Jersey, formerly of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 24, 2025, in Artis Senior Care. She was born on December 17, 1931, in Scranton, a daughter of the late Merle E. and Edith M. Gower Black. Barb was a graduate of Jefferson High School, the Canonsburg Hospital School of Nursing and attended California State College. She lived most of her life in Canonsburg and prior to her retirement had been employed as a registered nurse with South Hills Health Systems as a Patient Care Manager with St. Clair Home Care Unit. Barbara was a faithful Member of St. Oscar Romero Parish St. Patrick Church where she was a member of the Christian mothers and Guild. She was a member of the Home Care Alumni Assoc. On August 8, 1953, she married John E. Solensky, who passed away on December 22, 2022, after 69 years of marriage.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved grandchildren, Rachel Amelia Manni and her husband Justin and Austin Joseph Sigler, his wife Amy, great granddaughter Charlotte and second great grandchild on the way, sister Judith A. (Joseph) Cook, and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are her three children, Linda Sigler, Anna Mae Solensky and John Solensky II, son-in-law Eric Sigler, and brothers Charles R. Black and Richard E. Black.

Mrs. Solensky’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the incredible team at Artis Senior Living for the past two and a half years where the staff, who loving called her “Grandma” treated her like one of their own. Their compassion, care and dedication allowed her to thrive and feel truly at home. They are forever grateful for the joy and comfort they brought to her final years.

Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724) 745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at 9:40 am Wednesday, July 30, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in St. Patrick Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
