Bernedene Dernoshek

Bernedene Rolek Dernoshek, age 78 of Cecil, passed away peacefully Monday, December 29th, 2025. Bernie, as most knew her, was born June 7, 1947, and was the daughter of the late George Rolek and Marie Mailo Rolek. She graduated from Canon-McMillan High School and continued her education to become an LPN at Canonsburg Hospital, where she worked many years as a dedicated ER nurse. Bernie married Warren Dernoshek in September 1970 and spent an amazing 55 years together as husband and wife.

Bernie was the epitome of a nurse while also being a wife, mother, aunt and friend to many. She loved her family deeply and maintained many lifelong friendships. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and traveling around the country with her husband Warren and especially enjoyed, mostly unsuccessful, trips to casinos with her God son Joe Rolek and his wife Debbie.

Bernie leaves behind not only a legacy of love, friendship and service to others but also her beloved husband Warren, two sons Braden and Logan Dernoshek, her brother George "Sonny" Rolek, sister Caroleen Saulsberry and many loved nephews, nieces, and friends. She is preceded in death by her brothers Joesph Rolek and Frederick Rolek.

Friends and family are welcome from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724) 745-8120. There will be a blessing service at 10 am Friday January 2, 2026 with a burial following at the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
