Bertha May Kazak, 94, passed away peacefullyFriday, October 31, 2025. She was born April 28,1931, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late John and Anna Polochak Ungvari. She was a member of Saint Michael Byzantine Catholic Church and later St. Patrick Roman Catholic church. Bertha graduated from Canonsburg High School in 1949 after which she was eployed as an assembler at the RCA plant in Meadowlands. On June 29, 1957, Bertha married Stephan J. Kazak and became a dedicated wife, homemaker and caring mother. She volunteered at the St. Patrick School cafeteria while her sons attended. Afterward, Bertha worked in the Canon-McMillan School cafeteria, where she also served as union steward. Later she accepted a part-time custodial position for the district until her retirement. Known to many as Bert, she touched many lives with her spitfire personality. She enjoyed conversing with every-one and brought smiles to many who will never forget her. She also enjoyed traveling, horse -back riding, trips to the beach, going to the movies, bowling, and good times with her friends and family. Bert brought life to any party with her contagious enthusiasm as she lit up the room with her smile. After 45 years of marriage, Stephan J. Kazak passed away October 23, 2002. Bertha was the last of her immediate family. Deceased, in addition to her parents, are her siblings, Ann Polochak Orenich, John Polochak, Mary Polochak Betarie, Mike Polochak, Margaret Polochak Betarie, Peter Ungvari, Steve Ungvari and, sadly, a few nieces and nephews. Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, John (Karen) Kazak of Canonsburg, Joseph Kazak of Strabane and James Kazak of Canonsburg; her grandson, Joseph Kazak Jr. (Jay); and many nieces and nephews.

At Bertha's request, all services and interment in Forest Lawn Gardens McMurray will be private. Her family will have a celebration of Bertha's life at a date to be announced.
