Married to Leslie Bashioum on July 11, 1961, the absolute love of her life for 64 years, rarely did you see one without the other. She was born in Pittsburgh PA, but she and Leslie lived and raised their family in Slovan, PA. Mother to her beloved 4 Children, Michael (Dar), Scott (preceded her in death), Patrick (Tammy) and Bobbette. She made each of them feel like the most special person on earth in their own way through little gifts, time with her, ice cream treats, and camping. Her children were blessed beyond compare to have her as their “Mommy”. She was a proud Grandma (9) and Great- Grandma (7), and the grandkids gave her the biggest smiles. A favorite memory was baking Christmas cookies with them all around her like little elves on a sugar high. She was a skilled crafter and would persist until the end result was a masterpiece. Bobbette’s Christian faith was an important part of her life, and for many years she was a Sunday School Leader and heavily involved in the VBS summer programs at Westminster Presbyterian Church. She found great joy in sharing her love for the Lord. She was a woman of service to include the Slovan Volunteer Fire Department where she would follow the trucks on any major call in her vehicle loaded with healthy drinks and snacks to support the firefighters on duty. Three of those volunteer firefighters were her sons. She would help everyone she could, including animals. The family property became a refuse for unwanted pets. She had several favorite pets herself, to include “King”, her beautiful Tennessee Walking Horse, and her Saint Bernards, “Quinine” and “Sissy”. Bobbette was honest to a fault, be careful if you wanted the truth to hit you in the face because it was coming without sugar. She loved music and sang softly or hummed as she performed her daily tasks. Her smile was priceless and her husband, Les, would do anything to see that smile…that made his life happy. She and Les had the love story anyone wished for, still holding hands till her last breath. No one who knew them ever doubted their love for each other – it was so obvious you could feel it. They put God first and each other second. She loved their home where she raised her four children. She grew up in the city and preferred their move to the country where she could not see her neighbors from her porch. Her swing was a place of peace and comfort… to sit beside her on the swing brought a sense of peace, as though it radiated from her. She loved spring the best when the flowers were popping up out of ground with the beautiful colors of a painting. Gardening was not a hobby it was an everyday event. She would say, “who needs therapy when you can put your hands in the dirt and make new life come out with some hard work”. Bobbette was a fantastic homemaker and cook, everything she made was delicious. Her kids were often caught trying to “snitch” a sample of dinner before it was ready only to get a smiling “scolding” from Mom. Bobbette was a beautiful person inside and out, and she will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
