David Anthony Bier, age 95, died Sunday, August 9th, 2026, in Washington, PA. He was born on September 23rd, 1930, in Meadowlands, a son of the late Anthony and Johanna Kurucz Bier.

He was a 1947 graduate of Chartiers High School.

Mr. Bier served as a US Army corporal with the 139th Signal Corp from 1952 to 1954. Upon returning from service, he worked at the RCA Corporation and attended night school at the University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated in 1962 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

He was employed at PPG Industries, traveling extensively, before retiring in 1996 after thirty-five years of service.

Mr. Bier was a charter member of the Chartiers Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the Bears Club in Meadowlands, VFW Post #191 in Canonsburg, and American Legion Post #902 in Houston.

He enjoyed all outdoor activities and was an avid golfer.

On September 4, 1971, he married Joanne Sobolewski, who survives. Also surviving is a niece Susan Likar Piecknick and nephews Paul Likar and Mark Likar.

Deceased are a brother John Bier, and sisters Gloria (Edmund) Likar, Jean Bier, Joan Bier, and Anna Bier.

Family and friends are welcome on Monday, August 17th, from 9:30 am until the prayer service at 12:10 pm, at Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc, Joseph P. Salandra, Owner/Supervisor, 304 West Pike St, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:30 pm at St. Patrick’s Church, 317 W. Pike St, Canonsburg.
