Donald E. Bower age 95 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully Sunday January 28, 2018 in TownView Heath and Rehabilitation Center Canonsburg. He was born April 15, 1922 in Canonsburg a son of the late Harry and Jane Skiles Bower. Mr. Bower lived his life in Canonsburg. He was a devoted member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church where he was a member of the Catholic Men’s Club and served as an usher. He had been a taxi driver for Patch’s in Houston and prior to its closing has been employed at the former Ft. Pitt Bridgeworks for many years. He was then employed by Goodwill Industries until his retirement. Mr. Bower served with the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater, where he was in battles in Central Europe and the Rhineland. He received the American Campaign, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign, Army Good Conduct and the World War II Victory Medals. He very much enjoyed being with his nieces and their families after the passing of his beloved wife, who had been his entire world. On October 12, 1946 he married the love of his life Alice Yarkosky who passed away unexpectedly March 7, 2008. He was the last of his immediate family with brothers and sisters deceased. Among those left behind to cherish his memory are two nieces and their children; Lori (Thomas) Lochran and her children; Abby, Ben, Noah and Jack and Betsy (Timothy) Counihan and her children Josh and Paige and two nephews; Mark and Scott Kiselow.
Friends are welcome from 10am until 11:30am Thursday February 1, 2018 the time of departing prayers in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P.
