Doris M. Skovranko Finney White

Doris M. Skovranko Finney White age 87, of Strabane, passed away peacefully, Monday January 22, 2024, in Strabane Woods. She was born August 23, 1936, in Strabane, the daughter of the late George and Frances Kirn Skovranko. Doris was raised in Strabane and attended Alexander grade school. She graduated from Canonsburg High School in the class of 1954 and attended Penn Commercial Business School in Washington. Doris was Catholic by faith. During her life Mrs. White resided in Strabane, Moon Twp., North Strabane and Fort Lauderdale Florida. Prior to being a homemaker and stay at home mother, she had been employed by Westinghouse Atomic Power Division, in West Mifflin and H.H. Robertson Company of Ambridge. Later, she was employed by Allegheny/USAIR Airlines in Greentree and Summit Property Management, Fort Lauderdale Florida, where she held the position as Vice President of Finance and Administration and as a Professional Community Association Manager. She was a member of the KSKJ St. Jerome Lodge 153. Slovenian Union of America, Branch 71 and a social member of SNPJ Lodge 138, all of Strabane and the Community Association Institute of Florida. Mrs. White lived an active life, enjoying her children, grand children and great-grandchildren, socializing and communicating with her friends, listening to Slovenian polkas and attending dances and events. She was an avid Steeler, Penguin and Pirates fan who attended Canon-McMillan Band and Duquesne University band Concerts. Doris enjoyed gardening, reading historical and mystery novels and tending to the many treasured collectible items she acquired during her lifetime.  On June 1, 1974, she married Robert E. White Sr. who passed away on October 24, 2011, after enjoying a loving marriage of 38 years. She had previously been married to the late Donald L. Finney Sr. left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved children Kathleen M. Finney of Strabane and Donald L. Finney of Strabane, her stepson, Robert E. (Leslie) White Jr. of Maryland, grandchildren, Jennifer M. Sowers, Deena M. Hixenbaugh, Angela M. Adams, Lauren, Caroline and Donnie Finney and Matthew White, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great- great grandchildren. Deceased, in addition to her husbands and parents is her daughter, Christine M. Finney who passed away February 27, 2023.

Friends and family are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday, February 1, 2024, in SALANDRA FUNERAL and CREMATION SERVICES, INC. Joseph P. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery Canonsburg.
