Fred Daniel Caruso, 83, passed away Friday August 14th, 2026, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born on March 3rd, 1943 in Canonsburg Hospital, a son of the late Fred A. Caruso and Sophie Gromacki Caruso, and was a brother to his late sister Patricia Caruso Vinisky and brother James Caruso. Fred was also the brother to his younger sister, Kathy Caruso Simpson.
Fred graduated from Canon McMillan High School and attended the universities of West Virginia and California State, where he received his degree in Education.
Fred later served in the United States Army achieving the rank of Sergeant. After his Military service he returned home and began his career as a teacher in the Canon McMillan School District, spending most of his years teaching at the high school level.
He met his wife, Joanne C. Caruso, while teaching and the two were married in August of 1969.
Fred enjoyed bowling, playing cards, golfing and shooting pool with his son, grandkids and friends. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, making yearly trips to Florida and Arizona.
He is survived by his son, Darren F. Caruso of Beaver, PA, and his two grandsons, Zackary M, Caruso and Andrew J. Caruso, along with several other family members and friends who will miss him.
In lieu of flowers, family asks that you donate to the charity of your choice in Fred’s name.
