James Charles Arnold Jr, Age 59, of Canonsburg, passed away with his family by his side in the early morning hours on April 24th, 2026, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, after a 6-month-long battle with leukemia. He was born on September 26, 1966, to the late James Charles Arnold and Joyce Miller Arnold.

James, known as Jim or Jimmy by family and friends, graduated from Canon-McMillan High School in 1985 and enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly after. He served in Germany for two years as an Ammunition Supply Specialist, obtaining E4, specialist rank. He returned from Germany in 1987 and served in the National Guard for another 4 years until 1992, completing his 6-year service contract.

During his time in the Reserve, he began his career at Hoss’s Steak and Seahouse. Jim worked not only as a closer and opener but also as a line cook, earning 16 Hoss’s pins, 3 service awards, and 1 Board of Directors’ award. He worked there until the Canonsburg location closed in 2008. He changed jobs to work as a cook in the Meadows Casino and Racetrack but shortly after, switched to the midnight carpet crew. Jim worked on the carpet crew for 18 years, winning not only the love and admiration of his coworkers but also Team Member of the Year 2023.

Jim was married to Lani Arnold on August 12th, 2003, in Canonsburg, and was the father of two sons, Kyle and Mark Arnold. He was an avid Fisherman and spent many weekends with his family in parks, fishing and relaxing together. Jim was also a huge Pokémon and video game fan. He also enjoyed bringing his family to the shooting range and passing these loves to his sons. He was a jack of all trades and made sure to pass his handyman skills and knowledge not only to his boys, but also to the new trainees under his wings. Jim was also a huge Hard Rock and Metal fan, bringing his children to the Last Metallica Concert in Pittsburgh. He was well-liked by everyone he knew and well known for being reliable.

Jim and his personality will be remembered by the family he went ahead of, Lani Arnold, his loving wife, Kyle Arnold, his eldest son, and Mark Arnold, his youngest son.

Jenny Huff, his older sister, and her children, Jennalynn Huff, his niece, and Frankie Huff, his nephew. June Nichols, his younger sister and her family, Charles and Shane Nichols, his nephews, and Sierra Nichols, his niece. James also leaves behind his grand nieces and nephews, as well as his friends.

Family and friends are welcome from 6-8 pm on Friday, May 1st, at Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Departing prayers will be recited on Saturday, May 2nd at 9:40am and the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Saturday, May 2nd at 10:00am.
