James "Vinjay" Saieva Sr.

December 19, 1931 — July 27, 2021

James “Vinjay” Saieva Sr. age 89 of Muse passed away peacefully Tuesday morning July 27, 2021, in his home, with his family by his side. He was born December 19, 1931, in Muse a son of the late Baldassare and Anna Russo Saieva. Jim lived his entire life in Muse where he was a member of Holy Rosary Church of the St. Oscar Romero Parish and the Muse Independent Club where he served the board as a trustee. He was a graduate of Cecil High School and proudly served with the United States Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement Vinjay had been employed as a tester at the former McGraw Edison Power Systems and Cooper Industries in Canonsburg. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 902 in Houston. Vinjay enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family and friends. Left behind to cherish his memory are his devoted daughter Angel Saieva with whom he made his home, two sons, James (Marie) Saieva Jr. of Houston and Anthony (Charity) Saieva of Naples Florida, six grandchildren; Vincenzo Saieva III, Hunter Saieva, Chelsey Zotter, Cortney Zotter, Aby Saieva and Alexa Saieva, a great granddaughter Rose Zotter, sisters, Rose Guerri of York, Lily Popich of Muse and Mary Kurnik of York, many nieces and nephews, and his former wife Toni Staley and her companion Ed Noviski of Washington.  The family would like to send a special thank you to Jims caretakers, Selina, Tom, Suzanne and Joselyn. Deceased in addition to his parents is his brother Alfonso J. “Dutchie” Saieva, and sisters Jean Prandini, Carmela Schwimer and Libby M. Lombardo.

Relatives and friends are welcome from 2 – 8pm Friday July 30, 2021, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor where departing prayers will be recited at 9:20am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday July 31, 2021 in Holy Rosary Church, Muse. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg with full military rites by the United States Army and the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard.
