Jamie Francis Pecoraro, formerly of Taylorsville MD, passed away on Sunday, May 31, after a brief illness. He was a resident of Canonsburg PA, where he had lived for about 14 years.
Jamie was born August 30, 1960, in Beaver Falls PA, the second child of the late Louis J. and Teresa (Angelone) Pecoraro. He attended public schools in Carroll County MD and graduated from South Carroll High School in 1978, where he played on the soccer team, was involved in several other student activities, and was the student member on the Carroll County Board of Education.
Jamie went on to study economics at what was then Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) in Westminster MD, and then to Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh PA, where he received a Master of Science degree in Industrial Science. His career in business and economics took him to managerial roles at several large corporations at different locations on the East Coast, including AT&T, Bank of America, and lastly with PNC Bank in Pittsburgh. His work was marked by his quick grasp of important trends and ability to interpret and suggest how they applied to ongoing business needs. He always took his role as a mentor seriously and did his best to assist and advance those he managed.
An ardent sports fan, Jamie had an encyclopedic knowledge of many athletic endeavors and could always be counted on to remember any statistic or event about which he was asked. He enjoyed explaining the finer points of any sport to the less knowledgeable in a way that left them unembarrassed and better informed. He was also the repository of an immense amount of family history, from stories told by and about his grandparents, parents, aunts, and uncles, to rich memories from the childhood he shared with his brother, sister, and dozens of cousins.
In addition to his parents, Jamie was predeceased by dear friends Angela Heine and Cameron Bauer. He is survived and was much loved by brother L. Gregory Pecoraro (Christine Ameduri) of Westminster MD, and sister Lisa P. Ayres (Scott) as well as beloved nieces Alexandra Pecoraro and Julia Ayres, and a large number of cousins, especially the family of his cousin Rosemarie Angelone Thompson, who were a second family to him.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, June 12, at Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, PA (724) 745-8120. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am at St. Patrick Church, 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg, PA. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, McMurray, PA.
