Joanne C. Caruso

Joanne Cecilia Caruso (Bernardine), age 79, passed away on April 10th, 2026, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was born on July 7th,1946 at Canonsburg Hospital, daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Ann Markovich Bernardine. Sister to her late brother, Eugene Bernardine.

Joanne attended California State University where she received a degree in Education. She was a schoolteacher at Hills Hendersonville Elementary School for 29 years. Joanne met her husband, Fred D. Caruso while teaching and the two were married in August 1969. She enjoyed bowling, golf, going to bingo with her mom and going to the casino with her husband. Joanne loved travelling, making yearly trips to Arizona and Florida, and talking with anyone she met. In addition, she was an avid reader, frequently checking out books at the local libraries in Washington County.

She is survived by her husband Fred D. Caruso of Washington, her son Darren F. Caruso of Beaver and her two grandsons that she adored, Zackary Caruso and Andrew Caruso, along with several other family and friends who will miss her.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc, Joseph P. Salandra, Owner/Supervisor, 304 West Pike St, Canonsburg. At the family’s request, there will be no service. Joanne will be buried at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canonsburg Library.
