John F. Lucciola Sr. age 91 of Canonsburg passed away at 2:12pm Tuesday January 8, 2019 in his home. He was born December 22, 1927 in Canonsburg a son of the late Enrico and Antonia Vecchio Lucciola. Mr. Lucciola lived most of his life in Canonsburg where he was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. He served with the United States Army during World War II as a light machine gunner with the 18th infantry regiment. He was a member of the VFW Post 191 in Canonsburg and the American Legion Post 902 in Houston. Prior to his retirement John had been employed as a supervisor of patient registration with Mayview State Hospital. Earlier he had been employed at the former Continental Can Company and Pennsylvania Transformer. John was an avid softball player and bowler in his youth and was dedicated to watching grandchildren bowl weekly. He had always enjoyed a good card game with his brothers. On June 25, 1949 he married Maxine “Dolly” Gudak who survives after 69 years of marriage. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his children Sandy Almo of Canonsburg and John F. Lucciola Jr. and his wife Teresa of Canonsburg, five grandchildren; Melissa (Joseph) Graff, Jeanna Godwin (the late Michael Godwin), Lisa (Michael) Angelone, Krista Almo (Gary Marshman), Kayla Lucciola (Michael Mattis), four great grandchildren; Nevaeh, Daelin and Dominic Godwin and Mackenzie Graff a sister Jean (Frank) Insana of Washington, a brother Tony Lucciola of Virginia and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents are three brothers; Joseph, Patsy and Dominic (Crag) Lucciola.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9 am in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Interment will take place at 10:30am Tuesday January 15, 2018 in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp. with full military rites by the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard and the United States Army.
