Joseph A. Plazak, age 88, of Houston, passed away Friday July 11, 2025, in his home. He was born July 28, 1936, in Natrona, a son of the late Stephen and Pauline Romanik Plazak. Mr. Plazak lived most of his life in the Houston Canonsburg area and was a graduate of Canonsburg High School. He was a faithful member of St. Oscaar Romero Parish, St. Patrick Church, where he served at daily mass for many years. Prior to his retirement, Joe had been a grocery store manager in various stores in the area, including Thorofare, Payday, Kroger’s and finally Foodland in Washington. Joe was an avid golfer and enjoyed many vacations at Florida Beaches over the years. He was a loving pet parent to his many dogs and cats who were his constant companions. Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving sister, Helen M. Henry of Brookline and his devoted nieces and nephews, Debbie (Larry) Wozniak, Linda (Randy) Long, Cathy (Kevin) Masson, Patty (Tim) Hartzel and Karen (Ray) Di Caprio, his great nieces and nephews, Sean, Allison, Ryan and Amber, and great -great nieces and nephew, Brianna, Kaitlyn, Jillian and Grayson. Joe was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his brother Private First Class, Paratrooper of the U S Army, John F. Plazak who was killed in World War II and Stephen Plazak who died in infancy his sisters Elizabeth J. “Betty” Herron, Ann McIlroy and Mary Plazak who also died in infancy.

Friends and family are welcome from 3 pm until 7 pm Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724) 745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:40 am on Thursday, July 17, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in St Osar Romero Parish, St. Patrick Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Queen 0f Heaven Cemetery, Peters Twp, .
