Lawrence J. “Larry” Satifka age 92 of Washington, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 23, 2023, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born in California, a son of the late John and Josephine Sadler Satifka. Larry had been employed in finance during his career, being employed with Pittsburgh National Bank, the Meadows Racetrack, Allied Chemical/Welland, and prior to his retirement in 2007, he served as treasurer of Newell Federal Credit Union for 15 years. He lived in Washington the past 17 years before moving from California and was a faithful member of St. Oscar Romero Parish St. Patrick Church in Canonsburg. Larry had been a member of the Lions Club and the PNA, was an avid Penguins and Steelers fan who enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed having many pets throughout his life and is also missed by a dog, Charlie, who was always by his side. On June 28, 1973, he married Sylvia Fartro McCabe who survives after nearly 50 years of marriage. Also left to cherish his memory are his beloved children, Kathy Forbes of Apple Valley CA, James (Miriam) Satifka of Derby, CN., Patrick Satifka of Coal Center, Alison (Brett) Vonsik of Orlando Fl, Andrea (John) Sweeney and Ronnie (Jennifer) McCabe both of McMurray, Sylvia Cavallo of Whitehall and Kristen (Shawn) Culp of Bridgeville, twenty grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents is his first wife Vera Bissell Satifka who passed away in 1970, his son Lawrence M. Satifka who passed away in 2020, and his brothers Thomas and John Satifka. Lawrence was the last of his immediate family.
