Leila May McClain, age 97, who spent most of her life in Canonsburg, passed away on September 30, 2026, under the care of her son in Florida. She was born in New Kensington, the fifth daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Sams) Dager.
Leila graduated from Canonsburg High School. She retired after many years working for RCA and then Black Box, where she made many friends. Leila was a long-time member of the Canonsburg U.P. Church.
She was fun, classy, a bit sassy, and full of life right to the end. Sunflowers made her smile. So did anything with a tiger on it. And most of all her Chiweenie, “Tiger,” who was never far from her side.
Leila is survived by her son Sam, his wife Kathryn “Kati,” and many nieces and nephews, who are grateful for her long, well-lived life. She was greeted in heaven by her parents; her son Daniel; her sisters Ruth (Jack) Gillespie, Dorothy (Joe) Maffio, and Lamese (Joseph) Patrick; and her twin, June (Arthur) DeConcillis.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation on Monday, October 5, from 2–8 p.m., and on Tuesday, October 6, from 12–1:30 p.m., at Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., 304 West Pike St, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120.
