Louis Mlekush age 96 of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully on Monday May 11, 2026, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born on May 28, 1929, in Avella, a son of the late Louis and Anna Korant Mlekush. Lou lived in Canonsburg since 1967 and was a faithful member of St. Oscar Romero Parish St. Patrick Church. Prior to his retirement on February 28, 1991, he had been employed as a furnace operator at Weirton Steel Corp. Mr. Mlekush proudly served with the United States Army in Japan, during the Korean War. He had been a member of the American Legion Post 902 in Houston, the Eagles and Elks Lodges in Canonsburg. On September 2, 1967, Louis married Rosalie Racioppi, who passed away on November 22, 2007. He and his wife loved to socialize and dance, as well as travel internationally. They were proud of their huge garden. Louis is survived by nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his wife and parents is his brother Richard Mlekush.
Friends and family are welcome from 9 am until departing prayers Saturday May 16, 2026, at Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724) 745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 10:10 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am in St. Patrick Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canonsburg Town Park can be made online through the Friends of Canonsburg Town Park website.
