Melvian L. “Pegg” Maggi age 91 of Washington formerly of Canonsburg and Eighty-Four went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday November 23, 2016 with her loving family by her side. She was born September 13, 1925 in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire England a daughter of the late Alex and Daisy Pegg, she was the last of her immediate family and that generation of the Maggi family. On February 19, 1943, she married Raymond Maggi who passed away April 10, 1988. Mrs. Maggi came to the United States with her daughter in 1945 and settled in Eighty-Four with her husband’s family while he continued to serve in World War II. For a period of time she was employed at the former Kelly’s Pub in Canonsburg, Federal Paperboard and at Gimbel’s department store. She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg. In 2009 Mrs. Maggi was honored by St. Jude Research and Cancer Center for her monthly continuous and generous contributions over the years.
Mrs. Maggi is survived by her daughter Gloria (Paul) Unruh and her son Raymond Maggi both of Canonsburg, her beloved grandchildren Todd (Cathy) Marley, Leslie (Mike) Gostic, Drew (Jodi) Evanoka Neil (Ginny) Maggi, Chad (Katie) Maggi, Taylor Webster and Abigail Maggi, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews here and in England. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents is her daughter, Kimberly Bistarkey, who died tragically December 28, 1976, and two brothers and two sisters who had resided in England.
Friends and family are welcome from 2-8pm Sunday November 27, 2016 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at noon Monday November 28, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 in St Patrick Roman Catholic Church Monday with interment to follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Twp.
