Michael John Pozonsky

Michael John “Fluff” Pozonsky age 95, of Meadow Lands, formerly of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in the home of his daughter, with his family by his side. He was born February 4, 1931, in Muse, the son of the late Michael and Ann Sichko Pozonsky. Mr. Pozonsky was raised in Muse and was a graduate of Cecil High School class of 1949. He proudly served with the United States Air Force from 1952 through 1956 stationed at Rhein-Mein Air Force Base in Germany and was a faithful member of the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard of Canonsburg always attending and participating with the firing squad up until two weeks prior to his passing and proudly marching every year in the Canonsburg Fourth of July Parade. Mike was an Electrical Tester at the former McGraw Edison Power Systems and Cooper Industries from 1958 until its closing in 1994. He was then employed for 20 years at Miller Hardware in McMurray until his second retirement in 2021. Mike enjoyed singing for years with the South Hills and Washington Chapters of Barbershop Quartets. A true athlete, Mike excelled at baseball, he was the Ace pitcher for the Rhein-Mein Rockets in the Armed Forces League while stationed in Germany; He also played in local leagues when he returned home. In his later years, he played in local softball leagues into his late 60’s and enjoyed golf into his 90’s. Most important to him was his faith and he was a lifetime member at St Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church in Canonsburg, where he served as Cantor for 40 years. On May 10,1958, he married Mary Zanaglio who passed away March 26, 2018, after 60 years of marriage. Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved children, Lisa M. Renko with whom he made his home and John (the late Michele) Pozonsky of Hickory. Three grandchildren, Joshua Renko, Brittany (Tyler) Clark, and Jordyn (Dave) Lockhart, great grandchildren, Branson Clark and E’Lynn Watson, two sisters Dolores Cox of Muse and Mary Geraldine (Steven) O’Conner of Pittsburgh, sister-in-law Nancy Pozonsky of Muse and cherished by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Deceased in addition to his wife and parents are two brothers Peter and Robert Pozonsky. Mike had a saying that he lived by “Dying is a part of living – Life goes on”. His amazing energy and love for life will be missed dearly by all. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday September 16, 2016, in St. Michaels Byzantine Catholic Church, Canonsburg. Interment with full Military Rites by the VFW Post 191 of Canonsburg and the United States Airforce will take place at 12:30 pm in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
