Norma Cocco, 84, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Norma was born on April 2, 1938, in Canonsburg, the daughter of the late Concezio Paulo and Ann Mastrangioli DiSalle. She was a lifetime, committed member of St. Patrick’s Church of Oscar Romero Parish. Norma graduated from Canonsburg High School in 1956 and went on to work in her parents’ DiSalle’s Market on Greenside Avenue, the Citizens Trust Company and later worked for the Canon McMillan School District and volunteered at St. Patrick’s Catholic School. Norma had been the business manager for her family’s real estate business Cocco Investments for many years. Norma met her husband of 51 years, Peter Cocco, in 1958, while he was stationed in the U.S., with the Italian Air Force. Their love for each other quickly grew, Shortly thereafter, they traveled to Italy, where they were married, and started their family.
Family was the focus of Norma’s life. Her love for her husband, children and grandchildren was extraordinary. She lived to support her family and to ensure that everyone was exceptionally cared for and given the best opportunities that life could offer. Sunday dinners and holiday’s, especially Christmas Eve, were mandatory, memorable and exceptional. They still remain a tradition in the family.
As the years went by, Norma’s love and commitment to her family were rewarded with fifteen grandchildren, who absolutely adored her. Norma was a compassionate, strong, and loving woman who touched many people throughout her life with her soft smile and kind words and gestures. She had the ability to find something positive in every situation.
Norma is preceded in death by her husband, Peter Cocco and her brother, Paul DiSalle Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Sandra Marchky (Michael) Indianapolis, IN. (Dan, Brian, Paul), Robert Cocco (Alison) McMurray, PA (Emily, Melanie, Claire, Adriana), Lisa Vilsack (E.J.) McMurray, PA (Joe, Gina Michael, Maria) and David Cocco (Bridget) McMurray, PA (Dave Jr., Anna, Madeline, Natalie).
Family and Friends are welcome from 3pm until 7pm Tuesday October 18, 2022, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., 304 W. Pike St. Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will he held at 9:40 am Wednesday October 19, 2022. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in St. Patrick Catholic, Church 317 W. Pike St. Canonsburg, with entombment to follow at Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
