Patricia A. “Patty” Vinisky age 87 of Canonsburg, formerly of Houston, passed away peacefully in her home, Thursday July 31, 2025, with her beloved daughter and granddaughter by her side. She was born February 22, 1938, in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Frederick A. and Sophia D. Gromacki Caruso. Patty was a graduate of Canonsburg High School and the Washington Hospital School of Nursing. She was a lifelong member of St. Oscar Romero Parish, St. Parick Church and a member and past president of the Washington Hospital Nurses Alumni Association. Patty had been employed at Washington Hospital as a registered nurse and Canonsburg Hospital for many years in the Emergency Department. She read a book a day and was employed for twelve years at the Chartiers-Houston Community Library in Houston. Patty was a member of the Croation Fraternal Union, a census taker in the first Canonsburg Boro census, and served as the first woman Mayor of Houston during the 1980’s. She enjoyed dancing, scrabble and playing cards. Left behind to cherish her memory is her devoted daughter Mary Beth Vinisky of Houston and beloved granddaughter Morgan Beth Walter, brothers James R. (Joyce) Caruso of Carlile, Frederich D. “Fritz” (Joanne) Caruso of Washington, sister Kathleen L. (John) Simpson of Charleston South Carolina and several nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to her parents, is her son Michael Vinisky.

Friends and family are welcome from 3 until 7 pm on Sunday August 3, 2025, at Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724) 745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:40 am Monday August 4, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am in St. Patrick’s Church 317 W. Pike St. Canonsburg Pa 15317. Interment will be with her family in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
