It is our profound sorrow to announce the passing of Patricia (Pat) Getzik (formerly Patricia Balazy) in her home on the evening of September 9, 2026, at the age of 97. On May 20, 1949, she married Edward S. Getzik who passed away May 13, 1995. Patricia is survived by her son David Getzik (and wife Debra) and daughters, Kimberly (Gregory) Drahuschak, Kathy (Chris) Vermilya, and Beth Reedy as well as grandchildren Kristopher (Erika) Getzik, Timothy (Camille) Getzik, Stefan Getzik, Stefanie (Drahuschak) (Josh) Eberhardt, Jonathan Vermilya, Tanner Vermilya, Hunter Vermilya, Austin Vermilya, Zach Reedy, Blake Reedy, and Jennifer Gonzalez and eight great grandchildren. Patricia’s faith and love of her family were the cornerstones of her life that enriched others by making their lives more joyful. Pat was a member of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church St. Oscar Romero Parish in Canonsburg, where she served as a eucharistic minister and a CCD instructor as well as being a member of the Women’s Guild of St. Patrick’s Parish Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Canonsburg 1211, and the Christian Mothers and Guild. In addition, Patricia was a member of KSKJ St. Jerome’s Lodge in Strabane. Deceased in addition to her husband is her parents Stanley A. and Alice Negel Balazy, two sisters and a brother. She was the last of her immediate family.
Friends and family are welcome from 11 am until 1 pm and from 4 pm until 6 pm Sunday September 13, 2026, the Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724) 745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at 9:40 am Monday September 14, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in St Patrick Church St Oscar Romero Parish 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Twp.
