Cooper Industries Retiree and Korean War Era Veteran

Pete Mastrangelo, 85 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in Family Hospice and Palliative Care in Mt. Lebanon surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 1, 1931 in Washington to Frank and Rose Coppola Mastrangelo who preceded him in death.

On July 5, 1957 he married Marilyn Foley who survives.

Pete was a U.S. veteran having served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War era.

Pete worked for Cooper Industries for 35 years. He was also a licensed barber and cut hair full-time prior to joining Cooper and part-time afterwards, over the years. Pete was an avid coin collector and was a coin and collectible dealer at Trader Jacks in Kirwan Heights after his retirement. He was a member of the South Hills Coin Club in Bethel Park and the George Washington Numismatic Association in Washington.

While his kids were growing up, Pete was a Little League coach for five years. Later, as his grandchildren began to participate in sporting activities, he was a passionate supporter and never missed an opportunity to see them play.

Pete enjoyed cooking and baking and was well known among friends and family for his delicious pizzelle cookies that he shared with them during holidays and throughout the year.

He attended The Bible Chapel in McMurray.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by two sons, Jeffrey S. Mastrangelo (Rosemary) of Canonsburg and Randall C. Mastrangelo of Gaithersburg, Maryland, two sisters, Violet Johnson (Edward) of Massilon, Ohio and Helen Landes of McLean, Virginia, six grandchildren, Anthony, Gina, Maria, Ryan, Matthew and Megan Mastrangelo,  one great granddaughter Alexa Grace Mastrangelo, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Samuel Mastrangelo and four sisters, Evelyn Calli, Mary Schumacher, Violet Mastrangelo and Imogene Curry.

Friends are welcome from 2~4 and 6~8 PM on Sunday, March 5, 2017 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, March 6, 2017 at The Bible Chapel, 300 Gallery Drive, McMurray, EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, 3739 Washington Road, McMurray. Full Military Rites will be accorded by VFW Post 191 Honor Guard.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Bible Chapel in McMurray.
