Richard George Barnes age 69 of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully, on Saturday July 5, 2025, in his home with his devoted family by his side. He was born April 5, 1956, the son of the late Frank R. and Anne Stajduhar Barnes. A Master Carpenter by trade and a builder in every sense of the word, Richard crafted not just homes, but a life filled with love, grit and a fierce sense of independence. Left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved sons, Grant (Sydney) Barnes and Douglas Barnes and his girlfriend Sarah and her children Ben and Sophia, who he raised with quiet strength and unwavering loyalty He was the proud grandfather of Riley Bowland who brought immense joy to his later years, and also surviving is his sister Jackie Irwin. Richard was an avid outdoorsman and lifelong fisherman, most at home with a stick rule in his hand, a cherry cigar tucked in the corner of his mouth, and the quiet beauty of nature surrounding him. He was known as being “stubborn as hell”, but those who know him best understood that underneath that tough exterior was a loyal, deeply loving man who would do anything for his family. He built a good life, one strong beam at a time, and those who loved him will carry that strength forward.
As per Richards wishes there will be no public funeral, and his family will honor his memory in their own meaningful way. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724) 745-8120.
