Stella Diane Allen

April 29, 1955 — December 24, 2022

“I have only one regret in my life. That I never got to Woodstock”. That was the favorite quote of our youngest sister. She lived most of her life doing what she wanted and by her own rules. On Saturday, December 24,2022, our free spirit, Stella Diane Allen, left this world after a courageous battle with cancer, and like the song from one of her favorite singers, " she did it her way ". Stella was born April 29th, 1955, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, the youngest daughter of Clement F. Allen, Sr. and Joan Stoskel Allen. She was a beautiful baby and often called" pretty precious " by our father. Stella was raised and lived most of her life in Marianna Pennsylvania, and later moved to the Canonsburg Houston area. When her illness made it unable for her to live alone her brother opened his home in Washington, to her where she lived until her illness required care at the Donnell House.

She attended Beth- Center High School and graduated with the class of 1973.  She worked for many years at Western Center as a caregiver and upon its closing transferring to the state veteran’s hospital and then to Mayview Hospital. She retired from state employment as a clerk in the state office. Stella was a member of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees local 2207 and local 2577.  She had also worked in her earlier years at Krusick’s grocery store in Marianna and as a housekeeper and cook at the Century Inn in Scenery Hill.

She loved to cook and bake. If you wanted good cabbage rolls, spaghetti, nut rolls or pizzelles, Stella was your girl.  She loved music, anything from Frank Sinatra to Aretha Franklin. (No country please). A fresh cup of coffee, a lighted cigarette and music on the radio brought her peace and relaxation.

Stella is the beloved mother of her greatest love and joy, son, Thomas Matiyasic (Donna Jones) of Bellington, W.V.  Also left to cherish her always in their hearts are sisters: Kathleen Allen, Washington, Judith (Dave) Penn, Taylorstown, brother Clemmy Allen,Jr. Washington,Sisters-in-law Georgeanna Allen and Candy Allen. nieces Cara (Joe) Nadberazny and children Rosie and Joey, Joanna Allen(Joe) Siebert and daughter, Maci, nephews David (Rachael)Penn and their children Ian and Lilly, and Michael Allen, Aunts Clara Miller, Lucille Kovacich, Marlene (Frank)Coughenour, Ruth Stoskel,Fedora. Stoskel, many cousins, and her special buddy Donna Siber.  Also, love and laughter were brought into her life by Ivan Jones, her step-grandson.

Stella Diane was preceded in death by her parents, brother George Allen, and longtime companion David David and nephew Baby Brydan, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Stella Diane would like everyone to take one last chance for her and buy a lottery scratch-off ticket. She hopes you're a winner and will use your winnings to do something FUN!

The family wishes to thank the Concordia Hospice, especially the home Care nurses and aids, Amanda, Ashley, Josie, and Nicole, social worker Joyce.  And all of the staff at Donnell House.  You were her angels.
