Captain William Patrick Hincy, 74, of Palmdale, California, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, after a fourteen-year battle with cancer.
William was born on August 20, 1951, in Canonsburg, PA, to William George Hincy and the late Elvera B. Hincy. He had two brothers, David Hincy (Barbie), and Steve Hincy (Debbie).
William graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Physics and married Sheila Diane Hincy. He served in the Air Force for seven years, achieved the rank of Captain, and earned an Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service. After leaving the service, he was an aerospace engineer until retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila, and three sons: Michael Fluharty, married to Malinda Fluharty, William Ryan Hincy, married to Claire Hy-Hincy, and Allen Hincy. He adored his six grandchildren, Victoria Crawford, Daniel Fluharty, Rhiannon Hincy, Kassidy Hincy, Mikayla Ha, and William Wallace Hincy, and was blessed with seven great-grandchildren, River, Lucy, Blakley, Liam, Julian, Ellyanna, and Rosalie. He is preceded by Elvera Hincy.
William lived a life of curiosity, family, and adventure. He was an avid pilot whose favorite pastimes were taking to the air and looking to the stars, and he spoke and acted with a unique blend of “audacity with gravitas.” He loved God, Country, and Family, and he never let anyone else put limits on what he could achieve. When doctors gave him 18 months to live, he took fourteen years. Now, he takes his place in eternity.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Salandra Funeral Home, Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 W. Pike St, Canonsburg. William will be buried in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
