William F. Setto

September 17, 1943 — January 12, 2026

William Frederick “Bill” Setto, 82, of Houston, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2026, at Washington Hospital in Washington, PA. He was born September 17, 1943, the son of the late Paul John Setto Sr. and Elizabeth J. “Betty” (Gump) Setto. Bill was truly one of a kind, steady, generous and full of heart. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who built a life rooted in faith, family and service. To know Bill was to feel cared for. His family knew him as “Pap” or “Pappy,” a name spoken with warmth and admiration by all who loved him. Nothing brought him greater joy than being surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, cheering them on, helping them through life and creating memories that will live on for generations. Bill married the love of his life, Judy Setto, on April 25, 1980, and together they built a beautiful life grounded in devotion to the Lord and to each other. Bill and Judy shared a love story that felt like it could only be God’s doing. They were childhood sweethearts who found their way back to each other after many years apart, and together built a beautiful life centered around faith, family and unwavering love. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Judy, and his children: Kimberley (Joseph) Gloady of Washington; William (Melissa) Setto of Rincon, Georgia; Kelley Deep (John Ianniello) of Washington; Robert Setto of Washington; and Laura (Gerry) Borish of Strabane. He was the proud “Pap” to thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Bill loved his family more than anything in the world, and his family loved him just as deeply. He is also survived by his brother, Paul “Butch” (Janet) Setto. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers Robert Setto and Thomas Setto. A lifelong lover of sports, Bill was a 1961 graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School, where he was a decorated three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and track and field, holding and breaking numerous records. That passion for sports continued throughout his life — whether he was following the Pittsburgh Steelers, enjoying a round of golf or cheering from the sidelines for his favorite teammates — his family. Bill’s heart for service was evident in everything he did. A devoted Christian, he volunteered faithfully alongside his church families and found special purpose in supporting young people. He coached youth football in the 1970s and 1980s and later served as a youth softball coach for TWIST Softball in the 2010s — where players lovingly referred to him as “Coach Pap.” He didn’t just coach the game; he encouraged, guided and uplifted the kids he worked with, and he took genuine pride in helping them grow as both athletes and people. Bill worked for more than a decade as an event coordinator for the Pittsburgh Bible Institute. In this role, he was able to beautifully combine his passions for helping others, giving back to his community and living out his love for the Lord. This chapter of his life brought Bill many blessings, lasting friendships and deep fulfillment. Bill’s life was one of love, faith and quiet strength. The foundation he built, especially in his family, his community and the countless lives he touched, will continue to stand tall. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and forever celebrated.
