William D. Kotyk, Jr., 79 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in Canonsburg Hospital.
He was born on October 13, 1939 in Canonsburg to William D. Kotyk, Sr., and Mildred Gallas Kotyk who preceded him in death.
Mr. Kotyk was a United States veteran having served his country in the Coast Guard.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts at Indiana University in Indiana.
William was an educator who taught Woodshop and History at Chartiers-Houston Jr./Sr. High School for 25 years until his retirement.
He was passionate about pipe smoking and had a collection of various styles and woods that numbered in the hundreds. He was a Virginia tobacco connoisseur and was a member of various pipe clubs. He attended as many pipe conventions as he could throughout the United States.
In his spare time, he taught Senior Woodshop classes at Pawlosky Lumber.
He is survived by his son James Kotyk of Waynesburg and Karen Muth, his friend and companion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Richard S. Kotyk.
Friends are welcome from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. the time of a Blessing Service on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P.
