Evelyn Powell Konechny

Evelyn Powell Konechny age 96 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday January 26, 2021. She was born May 31, 1924 in Cecil, a daughter of the late James and Theresa Vincenti Powell.

Evelyn was a graduate of Cecil High School. After graduating, she worked at the Muse Company Store, which she loved. She also worked many years in the receiving department at Gimbels Department Store in the south hills. Evelyn was an avid gardener and political junkie. She read multiple newspapers and watched CNN daily until her passing. Evelyn played the piano since childhood and she loved watching the backyard birds, especially the Eastern Bluebirds when they would return in the Spring.

Evelyn was a life-long member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Muse.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her daughter Kathleen Konechny of Canonsburg; sister Jean Coll of McDonald and her dear cat Blissie. Deceased in addition to her parents was her husband Michael who passed away October 25, 1993 and son Michael Konechny who passed away on August 19, 2012.

Friends and family are welcome on Friday January 29, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of departing prayers at 10:30 a.m., in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike St., Canonsburg 724-745-8120. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Holy Rosary worship site of St. Oscar Romero Parish, with Father George T. DeVille as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Bridgeville, PA

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any animal rescue group of your choice.
