Louis J. Bailey Jr. Obituary

Louis J. Bailey Jr. age 77 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 7, 2023, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born November 29, 1945, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Louis J. and Rose M. Adamczyk Bailey. Lou lived his life in Canonsburg where he graduated from Canonsburg high School and had been a member of the former St. Genevieve Roman Catholic Church. He served with the United States Army and reserves and was a member of the American Legion Post 902 in Houston. He had been a winder for 25 years at the former McGraw Edison Power Plant and Copper Industries in Canonsburg, prior to its closing and had been a member of the United Steel Worker of America Union. Lou then received a bachelor’s degree in business administration with psychology and accounting from W&J College. Prior to his retirement in 2005 Lou had been employed for eight years with Children and Youth Services of Washington County. He was an accomplished artist, having his work displayed at the Olin Fine Arts Center of Washington and a talented woodworker making beautiful furniture for his family. On December 9, 1969, he married Lucinda (Cindy) R. Bloom, who survives after 53 years of marriage. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved children Rebecca Jo Bailey of Richmond, Virginia, Louis J. Bailey III and his wife Alyson of Canonsburg and Michelle Leigh Bailey Baird and her husband Jeffrey of Fernandina Beach, Florida, three sisters, Louise Stoltz of Canonsburg. Rosalie Henry of New Martinsville, WV, and JoAnn Lanzy and her husband Duane of Canonsburg, six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

At Mr. Bailey’s request there will be private family visitation and services at SALANDRA FUNERAL and CREMATION SERVICES, INC. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 , with interment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at  10:30 am Monday, March 13, 2013.
