Paul "Whitey" Rush Obituary

Paul D. “Whitey” Rush, age 86 of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg, following a lengthy illness. He was born September 23, 1934 in Washington, a son of the late Lloyd and Daisy (McConnell) Rush.

Paul was a 1952 graduate of Trinity High School. He proudly served in the United States Army in Mannheim, Germany, from 1957 to 1959.  Mr. Rush was a former employee of Western Electric of Pittsburgh, a bricklayer of Local 11 Union of Washington and an employee of McGraw Edison-Cooper of Canonsburg for 32 years, retiring in 1994 from the electrical maintenance department.

Paul was a member of St. Patrick Church of St. Oscar Romero Parish. "Whitey" was also an active member of the Volunteer Fire Department for 16 years, The Russian Club, The White Eagles and the Canonsburg Elks. He previously belonged to bowling leagues of Washington and Canonsburg and golf leagues of Canonsburg.  Paul was an avid fisherman, gardener and reader, and he loved music, especially polkas.  A "jack of all trades," Paul happily worked on various home projects for family and friends. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

On September 28, 1962, in Winchester, VA, he married Patricia “Pat” Brackis of Canonsburg, who survives. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his son Gregory Pirmez of Canonsburg; daughters Paula Rush, Kathy Rush and Michele (Mark) Luba, all of Canonsburg; grandchildren Alissa (Ezra) Hildebrand, Madison Popp, Nicholas Vlahos, Savannah Popp and Jacob Luba; great-grandchildren Lillyana and Ezekiel Hildebrand; brother-in-law Fran (Janet) Brackis of Eastlake, OH; sister-in-law Carole Rush of Allentown, PA, and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents are grandchildren Callie Pirmez, Angelica Vlahos and Hannah Popp; brother Gene Rush; infant brother Kenneth Rush; and daughter-in-law Darlene Pirmez.
