Raymond G. Janda Sr.

Raymond G. Janda Sr. age 87 of McMurray, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 4, 2021 in TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg. He was born June 3, 1933 in Philadelphia, a son of the late John and Ella Mae Schoen Janda. Ray graduated from North Catholic High School and attended LaSalle College, majoring in business and finance. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving in Korea and Alaska at radar sites from 1954 to 1959. He met and on June 25, 1960, married Helen Gleadall, who survives after 60 years of marriage. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved 4 beloved surviving children, Raymond G. Janda Jr., Paul A. Janda, Lauren (John) Balden, Christopher (Kerry) Janda, his precious grandchildren, Dylan and Mackenzie Janda, Kayleigh Rae, Lindsay and Emily Janda, Jeb Balden, Weston Scott and Sadie Grace Janda, brothers, Joseph and Jerry (Peggy) Janda, a sister-in-law Gerry Hesdon, Kim Schmitt and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his son John Scott Janda and brothers, John, James and Eugene Janda and their wives. Ray and been employed by State Auto Mutual Insurance for 34 years. He was a loving husband, dedicated father and grandfather and happiest when surrounded by his family. He enjoyed coaching basketball and coached the Peters Twp. Bronson House team for 14 years. He loved the Steelers, Sunday dinners, his home, his God and the USA. Due to the COVID pandemic a memorial gathering will be held by the family when its safer for all. Interment will be in Woodruff Memorial Park, North Strabane Twp. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P.
