Joseph P. Salandra

Owner/Supervisor/Licensed Funeral Director

Joseph P. Salandra was born and raised in nearby Muse.  He currently lives on the farm of Delvin Miller, world renowned harness racing figure, in Meadowlands, PA, with his wife Jennifer.  His children, Adam and Lauren, both reside in Los Angeles, California.  

Joseph served on the Chartiers-Houston Community Library Board.  He was Co-Chairman of the Canonsburg Bicentennial Commission in 2002. He served as board member and president of the Canonsburg Library for 5 years. He is a life member of the Jefferson Historical Society, and a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus who has chaired many community projects. He is also a member of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums and has met with Pope John Paul II on visits to Rome.

Joseph A. Solobay

1929-2016

Joseph A. Solobay was born and raised in Canonsburg and graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science in 1949.  The three years he spent in Korea and Japan during the Korean War in the 293rd Graves Registration Company allowed him to gain invaluable experience that he carried into his civilian career. 

When he returned home from the War he married Elsie Donelich, with whom he had three children, Tim, Miriam Jo, and Mark.  After the death of his first wife, he married Amy Fantini, with whom he now resides.

Joseph was a charter member of the Jefferson College Historical Society and its Treasurer/Membership Chairman for 40 years.  He has amassed a wealth of knowledge and has thousands of pictures of Canonsburg.  He has been a consultant to many researching the history of Canonsburg.  Joseph has served on the Canonsburg Library Board for 25 years.

Joseph was an active funeral director for 65 years until 2014, when he reluctantly retired. 

Sadly, Joseph passed away on March 19, 2016.

Darla A. Tripoli

October 20th, 1963 - August 17th, 2019

May Her Memory Be Eternal

Darla Tripoli was a Licensed Funeral Director, a Licensed Insurance Agent and a Licensed Cosmetologist. 

She was also a Certified Celebrant who created unique and personalized funeral services for families.

Darla assisted clients with funeral arrangements, monuments and final inscriptions.  Based on her years of experience as a Funeral Director and pre-planning specialist, she gave wise, objective advice when a family was considering pre-planning funeral arrangements.  

Darla graduated from The Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and taught at the mortuary school part time. Darla and her husband, Paul, are survived by two children and two grandsons.

She was a member of The Bible Chapel in Peters Township where she grew up and went to high school.  

Andrew F. Kuzy

Funeral Assistant

Andy is a graduate of Duquesne University and is a retired pharmacist having served the area for over 40 years.

Andy resides with his wife, Colleen, in Washington, PA. They are proud parents of two daughters, two son-in-laws, three grandsons and one granddaughter, all who live locally. Andy enjoys spending as much time as he can with his children and grandchildren.

Andy began working for Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., in December of 2016.

Troy Crawford

Funeral Assistant

Troy is a graduate of Berklee College of Music, receiving his degree in Music Production.  He also attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science.  Troy joined the staff of Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. in January 2014 and is very involved with many aspects of funeral service with the firm.

In his spare time, Troy enjoys working out, Crossfit, and spending time with family and friends.

Lori Kern

Hair Stylist

Lori has been a licensed cosmetologist since 1978.  She enjoys assisting the families served by Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc.

Lori resides in Strabane with her husband, Greg.  She has a daughter and a granddaughter, whom she adores.
